“Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of a gift he does not give” (Proverbs 25:14)
Politicians best interpret this proverb for us. They are well known for making promises that they know they can never keep. The irony is that they boast about the ‘gift never given’ as if it were, or will be, given. But that doesn’t put the average Christian above such things.I have a friend who was given money at a time of great need. And because it came from an unlikely source, he has praised the individual concerned on a number of occasions. I have had to smile, because I actually know that the money given came from a third party. I also know that the man who delivered the gift knew that he was claiming ‘stolen glory’ at the time. Fear not, my friend will go to his grave none the wiser. A gift given from the heart is a two-way blessing. Jesus gives us a handle to turn on Showers of Blessings:”But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you” (Matthew 6:3-4).John staigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends.
