Proverbs 24:3-4
“By wisdom a house is built,And by understanding it is established;And by knowledge the rooms are filledWith all precious and pleasant riches.”Somebody quipped: “An expert is a person who is more than 30 miles away from home.”Such is the nature of our home that, all things being equal, we are known and accepted as we really are.That place of mum, dad and the kids, sits at the centre of our existence. Those stories that our parents told us about their childhoods are the ones we pass on to our kids—albeit filtered and added to by our contribution to posterity.Spiritual wisdom qualifies us to be one of the Master’s builders.With godly understanding we place our homes on a firm foundation.Our Biblical knowledge teaches us to fill the rooms—fit for purpose.Making it a home of blessings. A place to be proud of, a place to be envied.Much self-discipline and self-denial goes into such a home. Christians are keen to become ‘Home-Improvement’ experts. Always making the home a better tool for evangelism and hospitality. The best way to fill the pews at the church building, is to fill the chairs around your kitchen table with friends and strangers.The Lord Jesus will train you in all things if you just submit to his will.
