Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised”

Zsa Zsa Gabor lived quite the life. She packed into her 99 years a lot more living than the average person might only imagine they could. To skim the surface, suffice it to say, here are but a few highlights: The Hungarian beauty queen (Miss Hungary 1936) moved to the USA to become a well-known Hollywood actress and socialite. Her two equally glamorous sisters were also famous amongst the social elite. Her profile being lifted to even greater heights by her five-year marriage to the hotel magnate Conrad Hilton (making Paris Hilton some sort of grand-step-something-or-other). Zsa Zsa was wife to a total of nine husbands. She once commented: “I am a marvellous housekeeper: Every time I leave a man I keep his house.”Her number of husbands only being matched by the nine-lives she lived and exceeded by the number of face-lifts along the way. Zsa Zsa Gabor died in 2016. But sadly, nobody really seemed to notice. Of course, I have said all this to say: “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:30).Contrast Zsa Zsa with Anna (Lk.2:36-38). This 84 year-old widow who served God in the temple courts for decades. She was blessed to see the baby Christ and encourage those who, like her, looked forward to this redeemer of man.Contrast Zsa Zsa with the widow her sacrificed her ‘two mites.’ Jesus commended her for giving all she had for God. (And if she had a dollar for every sermon preached about her…?)Contrast Zsa Zsa with those sisters you knew who saw out their days serving the Kingdom of Christ. We would not have come this far without them.Contrast Zsa Zsa with our senior sisters who are working for Jesus and will continue to do so as long they draw breath. They not only inspire us, they push us along. These women who fear the Lord will indeed be praised!John StaigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends.
