I have on more than one occasion been almost embarrassed to have received gifts from those whom I know could not afford to be so generous. Naturally, I received the gifts with thankfulness and have prayed God’s richest blessings upon them.My prayers were heard, I know, but I could rest assured they were answered before I even uttered them. These givers are blessed of God. For they already have a heart to give—and long to give more. Others say they want a heart to give, while not even giving out of what they have.“What is desirable in a man is his kindness,And it is better to be a poor man than a liar” (Proverbs 19:22).To have a reputation for kindness is a good thing. Jesus went around doing good, Barnabas sold property to help the needy, Dorcas made high quality clothing for poor widows, Paul moonlighted making tents to support his apprentice preachers…to name just a few of the well-known ones.To want our fellow man to do well is not a passive wish, it is an active desire that can’t help but result in prayers prayed and effort expended. There is not a normal, decent person on earth who doesn’t want to be surrounded by kind people. The fact that it is so desperately desired indicates the lack of such good souls around us.It brings a man true joy to act amiably, but it brings much more to those who are blessed by the kindnesses that naturally flow forth. To sum up our Proverb:Much desired is a kind man who gives willingly, whether he has much or little, than a man who lies, because, though he has much, he says that he has nothing to give.John StaigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends.
