At conception God in His mercy and grace downloaded a Conscience App into everyone. So, not only were we all born pure and sinless, we were all pre-programmed to be able to distinguish between right and wrong.
God also installed parents and guardians. His plan being that ‘Big-people’ bring ‘Little-people’ from the beauty of innocence to the glory of adulthood.
God, of course, deeming that every parent and guardian have the same obligation before Him—To teach their children to love and fear God all their days.
Moses, in his old age, repeated God’s words to the new generation:
“Assemble the people to Me, that I may let them hear My words so they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.” (Deut.4:10).
Will God hold us all to account for the way we have raised our children? The short answer is, “Yes!”
Yes, he will judge us for our efforts to either instil faith into or drive faith from, a child.
Jesus warned:
“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea” (Mark 9:42).
I have often lamented that the only demographic in hell larger than that of unrepentant parents, will be that of their children whom they deliberately robbed of their faith. May God have mercy.
Jesus went to extreme lengths to save us. His trial and crucifixion were unjust, harsh, cruel, bloody and murderous. The Gospel is the message of a risen Saviour who suffered the pain of hell, so that man, who was destined to spend eternity there, need not go. Praise Jesus!
“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:28-29)
