The world has always elevated its opinions to gospel status and reduced The Gospel to that of opinion. Careless Christians react badly to this. They get angry and dismissive toward all dissenters. But the love shown to us by our redeeming Saviour causes us to stop and remember the conditions of our less-than-stellar lives before we came to the cross. Our minds were full of worldly rot and selfish ambition. What moved us was the realization that God doesn’t operate as man does—Praise the Lord! God says: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways” (Isaiah 55:8). For this we are extremely grateful. If put in charge of salvation, we would likely save only those whom we presently love and condemn the rest—our mercy has a very limited ‘use-by date.’ However, God can see all of humanity at once and view all time as a moment. His love endures forever. In our daily fight to be like the Lord, we often ignore the obvious. We trade the Word of God for gimmicks. We forget its innate power. We must just speak the word of God and let it will do what God wants it to do. Just as there is a natural water cycle that rains down upon the earth and returns after watering the seeds and plants for bread production and consumption—”So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11). God’s thoughts towards his creation are love, God’s ways are evangelistic, and his word is convicting. Either you are convicted of sin and rebel, going into your own ways, or you are convicted of sin unto repentance and salvation. Remember, we sow and water, its God who gives the increase—preach the Word!
