“If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small.” (Proverbs 24:10).
Have you seen those surfers who ride the massive tunnel waves? Most of us cringe to think what might happen to us if we found ourselves being driven along by such mighty forces. But men and women surf those monsters every day. And if you asked them how they developed such skill and courage, they would answer, “We just kept on going out to catch another one. We learned by surfing one wave at a time! We fall off, and we get back out again.” Life is tough! Hard times are like those waves. They knock us down and leave us sprawled out on the beaches of life, wondering what hit us. The difference between us and those surfers are twofold: Firstly, they expect the wave, and secondly, whether successful or not, they are prepared for the next one. Troubles, trials, and temptations are part and parcel of our human existence.Like thieves, moss and rust stripping away the things of the physical realm, Satan is destroying the spiritual realm—if we let him!Though the trials of life are often unavoidable, the blessings that bring victory are optional—if we want them.Skill, strength and security for the day are there for the asking. But unlike the lone surfer, this is not an individual pursuit. We are a fellowship, joined together in an ongoing struggle against the forces of evil. We develop strength for the battle as we walk together in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is building the church around us and through us. His Word is our weapon, guide, and comforter. Those he indwells, our brethren, he uses to teach us, encourage us, correct us, and strengthen us in the name and image of our Lord Jesus Christ.Be strong in the Lord!John StaigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends.
