Leadership#10. “Keeping your head.”

Leadership#10. “Keeping your head.”

In World War II the Allied Forces dropped millions of leaflets designed to lower the morale of the Germans. Not everyone agreed on the efficacy of the effort. Pilots were put at risk during the dangerous drops, and citizens shot dead by the Germans if found with the leaflets. Quantifying the effectiveness of such psychological warfare may not be easy, but we must never minimise the hope it brought. Occupied citizens and prisoners of war drew strength and courage when seeing tangible evidence that the Allied Forces were working to save them from their captors.

Christians are at war with an enemy expert at destroying souls. The strongest of Christians are not safe from his morale breaking ways. His psychological warfare will drive you to complete despair—if you let him.

The battle for the soul is fought in the head. Satan’s goal is to destroy our ability to reason. He works at the basest of human levels by utilising human desires, emotions, and lusts to entice us into sin. Unless we allow the Holy Spirit to convict us of sin, our minds sink to the level of unreasoning animals. That is why the world resorts to bullying, deceit, and violence when it doesn’t get its way—its mind is on the devil’s wavelength.

The Christian understands that the “struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph.6:12).

Church leaders are at the forefront of education. They, being skilled with the Sword of the Spirit, train the hearts and minds of the congregation to face the devil in daily combat.

For the battle to be won, you must keep your head!

“Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.”
